On July 14, 2008 - Kim Emery was notified that her predecessor had stepped down in the middle of the Ms. United States competition and she was the new Ms. Florida United States. In a few hours she readied herself and gathered what she could to compete at a national competition well under way. She left for Las Vegas on July 15th. Kim would never let down her state, organization, or sponsors. Kim is the embodiment of the spirit of pageantry and the competitive spirit of women everywhere.

Throughout her reign, Kim plans on continuing her 17 years of community service as the founder of "TADA" -Totally Accepting Different Abilities. As a Motivational Speaker, Mentor and Role Model, Kim uses her career as an educator and her own personal experience to support young adults through the maze that is adolescence.

Kim also finds time to volunteer in saving lives through The Florida Blood Centers and is involved with the Community of Caring Foundation and the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition

As a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Our Lady of the Elms College, she is employed in Sarasota County as a Reading Teacher and Department Chair, as well as a SAC Representative, Cabinet Member, Yearbook Advisor, and facilitator of the Secret Pals Club. She is a Graduate Student at the University of South Florida and is excited about achieving both her advanced degree and National Teaching Certification.

Kim is a loving mother to a baby girl, Allie Mae. Although this is her focal point, Kim is an avid reader, and loves gourmet cooking. But that doesn't mean that she is a home body! She loves kick boxing, traveling and the thrill of skydiving.

Kim lives her life's motto: "Live like there is heaven on earth; Love like you'll never get hurt; Sing like no one is listening; Dance like no one is watching."
