Introducing Miss Teen Florida 2009: Alyssa Sopenasky
Alyssa Nicole Sopenasky- Initially when I started competing in pageants as a little girl, it was for the same reason all little girls compete, to become a princess for the day! The time I performed on stage was my favorite time! The opportunity allowed me to live a world of ~make believe~ and feel like Cinderella! Competing today, as an 18 year old recent high school graduate, I am competing for a set of completely different reasons! The motto of the United States Pageant truly says it all, ~beauty with a purpose. Yes, we are all still attracted to the glitz and glamour of pageantry, but there is more to the journey than make-up and evening gowns! It is the ~purpose~ element that attracts me to compete still today!
I have been volunteering since age 6 at local soup kitchens and this early involvement has inspired my passion of owning, operating, cooking and dining in my own 5 star restaurant! I am a member of the Delta Diamonds, have volunteered countless hours with Ronald McDonald House, House of Hope, and SADD. My efforts have made a difference and it is for this very reason, I am inspired and driven to continue my involvement with pageants and encourage others to do the same! It is with the philosophy that ~one person, can make one difference, even if it is just one time~ that I share to my peers! We all have the power to make the world a better place, how dare we not try! As Miss Teen United States, I would share my message throughout our country, encourage my peers to steer clear of negative pressures ... these duties would not be merely a job, but my passion!
Having made the 3rd cut at Americas Next Top Model, I am anxiously awaiting a call from Tyra and the shows producers in the hopes of advancing to the televised show because although petite in stature, I am BIG on dreams and actively pursuing my modeling career! I have been modeling in Florida since I can remember and I am excited the shows producers have recognized that beauty comes in all sizes! At 5 feet 2 inches, my dreams are coming true!
My title of Miss Teen Florida United States will be a memorable one! My goals are to continue my community service, encourage others to do the same, work closely with Miss Pam on all my scheduled appearances, spread the word about the United States Pageant, and most importantly have fun with my sister queens!
As I leave my high school years behind and begin my college career, I will take my United States crown and banner with me on campus and continue to dream BIG dreams!
